Huntsman and Cubicure launch new 3D printing materials

Huntsman will present two newest polyurethane 3D printing materials at the Formnext show this month: IROPRINT F 80112 filaments and IROPRINT R 1801 resin. Both new printing materials are based on TPU, which combines good flexibility with high strength and toughness and will be added to Huntsman's existing IROPRINT material range as a new member. IROPRINT materials are used for FFF, SLA, DLP, HSS and SLS 3D printing.

Huntsman's new filament IROPRINT F 80112 is a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material with a Shore A hardness of 78 and is soft and tough. In fact, the filament is the softest material in the IROPRINT portfolio. Made from polyether-based TPU, this material is ideal for 3D printed footwear, hoses, gaskets, robotic grippers, seals and other parts that require similar rubber properties.

IROPRINT R 1801 is a radiation-cured one-component polyurethane-based resin suitable for stereolithography, digital light processing and other radiation-cured printing processes. The new resin has good elasticity, high strength and high surface finish, making it ideal for printing footwear and sports equipment components.

Stephane Peysson, global business development manager for Huntsman Polyurethanes, said: "Our IROPRINT additive manufacturing platform is based on a thorough understanding of relevant applications. In the past three years, we have developed in a flexible, open and collaborative manner. Activities. We work closely with like-minded partners, customers and product designers to develop a range of high performance, high productivity, scalable and low cost materials."

“Traditional 3D printed materials based on polyurethane are hard and brittle and are used primarily for prototype testing projects or small-scale tasks. IROPRINT materials are different. They are both soft and strong, and have special properties such as high resilience. They help To promote 3D printing applications in mass production, we will continue to build a 3D printing partner ecosystem, and we look forward to communicating with the global additive manufacturing practitioners who participated in Formnext and introducing them to our IROPRINT product platform."

Cubicure Announces New Flame Retardant Photopolymer for SLA Technology

Cubicure, an Austrian additive manufacturing industrial polymer supplier, has released a new SLA 3D printing material: Evolution FR. The material is reported to be the first flame retardant photopolymer for SLA technology and has been UL94 V0 certified.

Evolution FR is a flame retardant, halogen-free resin optimized for Cubicure's proprietary thermal lithography. The combination of the unique properties of this resin and the functionality of thermal lithography facilitates the wider adoption of 3D printing in the automotive and electronics industries.

Cubicure said: "These applications are demanding, so polymers used in these areas must meet certain standards and performance requirements to ensure end-user safety. Flame-retardant properties tested in accordance with UL94 standard procedures are such parts. One of the most important requirements. Evolution FR meets this performance requirement and is therefore the first to offer a powerful solution for parts logistics in the additive manufacturing industry.
